Brewton Baptist Church
Where faith. family, & fellowship are strong.

About Us

Faith. Fellowship. Family.

Our history is rich with faith, family, and fellowship. Thoughts of the church first began in the 1880s. Over the years the community came together to worship, a building was planned, and services began. A long line of leadership stepped up to serve over the years. Families joined together to form a congregation. Fellowship brought together the community and the surrounding ones. In 1891, 11 charter members came together, and the church now know as Brewton Baptist Church officially began.

We Beleive…

There is one God who exists in three persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Jesus, born of a virgin, is the Son of God who lived a sinless life, died in our place as the only worthy sacrifice for the sins of mankind, was buried, arose bodily from the grave, ascended into Heaven, and will one day physically return to earth.

God, the Holy Spirit, is active in convincing unbelievers of their need for salvation and is the Comforter and Guide who dwells within every believer.

Salvation involves the redemption of the whole man and is offered freely to all who accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour, who by His blood obtained eternal redemption for the believer.

Our beliefs are summarized in the publication, Baptist Faith and Message.

Meet Our Pastor and his Family

Pastor Kenny Green and his family joined our congregation October 2019. He and his wife Christy have been married for 28 years. Their family has previously served in churches in Dublin, Reidsville, and Statesboro.

A message from our pastor:

“In 1993 Reba McEntire and Vince Gill sang a song that was titled “A Heart Won’t Lie.”  The opening line was sung by Reba and states, “Looking back over the years of all the things I've always meant to say.”  It was a song that speaks of regrets, memories, love lost, and chances not taken.  That was twenty-eight years ago this year!  Time does truly fly by!  Looking back over the past years is sometimes a good thing because it may motivate you to move forward and accomplish things that should have been done.  On the other hand, it is also a dangerous practice because it may remind you of better days and cause you to want to linger in the past.  Every individual has at least one thing in common with the rest of the human race: a past.

God equipped each of His created humans with a memory.  It is a tool for correction and can be very useful in aiding us in a forward trajectory.  If you use it in the wrong manner, you will have an anchor that will keep you in a suspended state that will hold fast while the rest of the world moves away from you.  In the book of Genesis, we can read the story of Lot and his family.  When Lot and Abram parted ways, the story says that Lot chose the well-watered plains of Jordan.  There he and his family lived and faced conflict. Lot even had to be rescued by Abram after he was taken captive and was eventually visited by angels from God.  After much persuasion, these messengers convinced Lot to take his family and flee the doom that God intended for that wicked place.  “Don’t look back” was the instructions that they were given, but Lot’s wife did and was killed by doing so.  For her, looking back was the end!

Now that we have reached 2022, take a moment to reflect on the past year.  Count your blessings, and rejoice that God has richly blessed us as a congregation.  Even with all of the COVID-19 problems, we are truly blessed.  We have faced adversity!  We’ve seen family members taken home to their eternal reward, and they will be greatly missed.  We have experienced sickness, and some have experienced job loss. However, God has remained true and has provided for us.  As a congregation and part of the family of God, let us join together and meet the collective needs as God has blessed us with the ability to do so.  Let us also remember the words of the old hymn “they will know we are Christians by our love.”

Are you searching for answers?  Are you searching for a church family and home?  Our hope is that this website will guide you in knowing that Brewton Baptist Church is striving to grow in Christ Jesus and His teachings.  We hope to provide our web visitors information that will show that we are attempting to make a difference in Brewton and in Laurens County.  Our prayer is that God will allow you the opportunity to visit with us and see if He wants you to be a part of this plan.  Just like you, we have a past.  In Matthew 11:28-29, Jesus says, “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.  Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”  I say to you, “Come to see if Brewton Baptist Church is where He wants you to be.”
